IEEE 802.16m to Bring 1Gbps Wireless Transfer Rates

The new standard is still more than a year or two away, but according to IEEE documents, the group hopes that 802.16m will be able to deliver 1Gbps transfer rates over the air. In fact, 802.16m is "required" to meet downstream speeds of up to 1Gbps in "nomadic" mode, or high efficiency/strong signal mode.

Is "3X DVD" HD DVD's secret weapon against Blu-ray?

SlySoft releases AnyDVD HD beta - Engadget

It seems that DRM just can't catch a break these days. First the all-important processing key required to unlock and decrypt HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs was discovered, now just days later comes news that the folks at SlySoft have updated their AnyDVD "backup" software utility to allow for "on the fly remastering" of HD DVD discs, although not Blu-ray

New Mars Pictures Show Signs of Watery "Aquifers"

NASA: The new images of Mars reveal a terrain of banded rocks similar to that found in the southwestern U.S., said Chris Okubo, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. The cracks bear telltale signs that fluid—probably water—seeped through them hundreds of millions of years ago.
